Life lesson #3: Leave the Baguette

July 13, 2010

There will come a time when you will work around the corner from Panera Bread.

One day, sometime in mid-July, your mother will come have lunch with you. The line at Panera will be long — lines will always be long.

Son, you’re going to order the broccoli cheddar soup in a bread bowl.

But, when they ask if you want the baguette — when they smile and tell you it’s free — say no. You’re not going to eat it. You’re never going to eat it.
