Lives, Gently Intersecting

I saw the woman today

At the Taco Bueno downstairs

Who has been there

As long as I’ve been here

And for some reason

I found it strange

That we have lived

Such simultaneous lives

Our days intersecting so gently

Over the faux stone counter.

The handing and the taking

Of my credit card

And those two instant moments

When we hold the card together.
